The EAS Team
At EAS our team of specialist industrial electricians has over 150 years’ experience.
With a wealth of experience in dairy and manufacturing, much of our expertise comes from having worked on the client-side. Our experience working as part of a manufacturing team means that we understand what it’s like to be called in on the weekend when the plant breaks down, we understand the need to balance budgets and that sometimes the timeframe is now.
When working on projects we pride ourselves on our ability to engineer out problems before they occur. Our expertise in maintenance helps us ensure your down times are kept to a minimum and we’re always on the look-out for ways to benefit your business.
At EAS we believe in getting the job done right first time. We utilise systematic checks to ensure this. In fact we’re so confident you’ll be completely satisfied with our service that if any issues arise we’ll be back immediately to resolve them for free.
If you have a project that requires an electrical and/or automation solution, EAS can take control of the whole project for you – delivering you a turnkey solution.
With EAS it’s EASY!

I’m Carey Penn, owner of Electrical & Automation Solutions (EAS).
Over the last 20 years I have worked in many areas of the electrical industry including industrial, commercial, domestic, security and fire alarms. However, it was my time working at Fonterra, where I really found my passion for developing solutions to electrical and automation problems. Over the more than 10 years I worked with Fonterra I held roles as maintenance shift electrician, cheese field planner, winter shut down team leader and finally mechanical team lead. These roles gave me a real appreciation for what working as part of a manufacturing team means. The importance of preventative maintenance, the need to manage budgets while delivering quality solutions and that sometimes the timeframe is now!
During my time at Fonterra I was fortunate to gain an in-depth knowledge of, and training in Machine Vibration, PLC’s, Analytical Instrumentation, Variable Speed Drives, Instrument Calibration and a wide range of sensors and motors. I also completed my Diploma in Maintenance and Reliability.
In 2014 I decided to start Electrical Automation Solutions (EAS) so that I could use my passion for problem solving and quality workmanship to offer electrical solutions to various Waikato businesses. I am grateful for the support of our fantastic customers which has seen EAS grow to a size where we now employ 7 qualified electricians to keep up with demand.
Work life balance is important to me. At the end of the day I love to blast away any work stress on my mountain bike. In fact getting outdoors and spending time with friends and family is probably my idea of perfection, especially if there is fish to be caught.
We believe in constantly striving to find better ways to do things.
We believe in challenging ourselves to find new and better ways to improve results for our customers and company.
We want to smash targets and roadblocks that get in our way.
At EAS we all step up and take ownership of our behaviour and recognise if we don’t play our part it impacts on the rest of the team. We strive to lead by example and are committed to offering innovative solutions rather than leaving challenges for others to solve.
We believe in the power of teamwork to achieve our goals.
We strive to cultivate a culture of collaboration, innovation and excellence where everybody is committed to playing their part to help our team succeed.
People are at the heart of everything we do.
It is our relationships with our staff, customers and suppliers that make us successful – Together we succeed.
We’re passionate about honing our skills and expanding our knowledge through continuous learning, ongoing improvement and sharing the knowledge to empower EAS as a company and our team to achieve their goals and dreams.

We believe in getting the job done right first time. However, if something does go wrong, we’ll be back immediately to fix it for free*.
We have engaged the EAS team for many of our projects over the years from maintenance to full turn key assignments such as Variable Frequency Controlled Pumps, Radar and Ultrasonic Level Measurement and Site Flow Meter Installation. We have found Carey and the team to have good project management skills across multiple disciplines, and they give a clear scope of work which is then delivered as detailed. EAS’ pricing is always competitive but not necessarily the cheapest as he often uses his maintenance background to engineer out foreseeable issues. EAS meets all company Health and Safety & Training requirements which is a must on our sites.
We have used Electrical & Automation Services many times for various sized capital projects at the Hautapu site. Carey and his team have always shown an excellent level of attention to detail and commitment to completing work required in often trying conditions. Their process and product knowledge is extensive and the ability to provide options and alternate solutions to issues is a strength when it comes to the contractor selection process. I’ve always found their communication and ability to work in with the various changing priorities of a complex manufacturing environment excellent, and their willingness to go the extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction a positive attribute.
We are a large scale chemical company and with the way our company is structured we were always looking for a contractor that could supply a turn key solution. We worked closely with EAS initially to clarify the scope, but as always I got called away to other projects requiring my time. EAS was able to work unsupervised and safely to achieve a first rate install. From experience this would be not have been possible with other contractors I have used in the past.
With their Electrical and Mechanical capability, they are positioned uniquely in that you don’t have to engage two contractors to get the job done. By using EAS we were able to commit to a deadline which would have been impossible to achieve in the past.
If you need a quality job, requiring both Electrical and Mechanical works don’t hesitate to give EAS a call. I don’t believe you will find a better partner in the greater Waikato for all your standard or overflow works.
EAS was recommended to me from a good friend when I needed Electrical advice on some minor renovations around home. Carey and his team were fantastic to deal with and provided practical and affordable options for my project. I have since used EAS to replace all the lighting around the house, which has significantly improved our living experience at home.
EAS continues to be my first point of contact for any Electrical needs and I regularly recommend them to my family and friends.
